There are two different types of solar energy. Thermal, that produces heat able to be applied in any house for drinking hot water and for heating systems, and photovoltaic, that produces electricity and is often used only in electricity generation plants , or in rural dwellings or farms with no electricity supply.



Names of the panels sometimes mislead. When we say panel, we are referring to a solar panel that can be either photovoltaic or thermal. When we say collector, we are always referring to a thermal panel. And when we say module, we are speaking about a photovoltaic panel.
