Geothermal heating

Geothermal heating is the most efficient heating we can find, then it is based in a heat pump -the most efficient heating system-, but it goes one step beyond, then it applies a renewable energy: geothermia.

Geothermal Heating

We have to differentiate amont geothermia and domestic geothermal heating. The first one means you have and active heat source in the subsoil, and is to find specially in volcanic territories, or there where there are many geisers. Heat is used to produce electriciy in power plants. Domestic geothermal cooling is something different. It is just something similitar to conventional air conditionning, but instead of pushing the heat outdoors, you push it into the subsoil, that is cooler that air street, and the device needs so less energy to work. Domestic geothermal heating works just the same: you absorb heat from the subsoil -not  from street air- and push it into the house.

Climate change and next oil production peak is changing the world energy model; many nations institutions and goverments are promoting this model change, using grants and other incentives for it.

More and more people are starting to be interested in renewable energies and efficiency devices. Many clients are asking us about the best energy solution for their homes. One of the best, more confortable and effic ient, is geothermal heating, specially if we combine it with solar energy and radiant floor heating as emisor. In our opinion, this is the most efficient of domestic heating we can imaging. Besides, this system lifetime can last during generations.


Solar energy uses the heat of the sun to apply it into the heating and hot water system. Radiant floor heting is the more comfortable heating emisor you can find. They combine very well, then the work on a similar temperature.

Geothermal heating is ised for domestic heating systems, but it can be also applied in comercial locals and industrial processes that need heat.
 

Heat pump

Geothermal heting needs a heat pump, so it is very convenient to explain first of all how a heat pump works.

Heat pumps doesn't produce heat with the consumed electricity; the use this electricity to move the heat froma place to another, just as its names indicates. This make it one of the most efficient machines to find, because each energy unit consumed provides four energy units.

Heat pumps use several thermodynamic laws to move the heat with the minimal consum. Electricity is used to compress the liquid inside the hydraulic circuit, changing its physical state, from gas into solid, and backwards. When it is a gas, it absorbs heat, and matter yields this heat when is back as liquid. This is the key of the whole process.

Air conditionning units make this exchange usually with the heat of the street air, but geothermal pumps make it with subsoil, then it keeps the same temperature during the whole year, about 15ºC.

obviously, it is much easier to expuls the heat inside the house to the ground by 15ºC in summer than to expuls it into the street air, that is much warmer. In winter happens just the same. It is easier to heat from15ºC than from 5.
