A water economizer is a small metal cylinder that can be adapted to the shower or the bathroom faucet of the house. It´s a good quality device that costs just , an investment recovered within the first three months due to the electricity and water savings that it provides. We have calculated a savings of 60%, although the manufacturer claimed only 40%.

The device reduces the water flow, but increases the pressure of the out coming water while injecting air. The result is a sparkling stream that seems even more abundant than without the device. It doesn´t appear that less water is being consumed, but, the amount that comes out is more than enough to wash our hands or teeth and, besides the water savings, the electricity consumed by the hydraulic pump to deliver water to the faucet is also reduced. It is a simple, inexpensive and useful way to help the environment.

Since we are mentioning the faucets, we recommend to all those who have lever faucets, not to leave the lever in the center, because in that position it activates the hot water output with the subsequent consumption of gas, diesel or whatever fuel is b eing used in the home. It is advisable to leave the lever at the far end of the cold water side and shift it only when necessary.
