Biomass is a renewable energy from government subsidized. The observation of climate change has mobilized governments around the world to reduce CO2, one of which produces greenhouse gases. For this reason, the promotion of renewable energies such as biomass, solar and wind energy have become a priority in institutions worldwide.

Sweden will propose a tax on CO2 when you access the EU presidency. To control CO2 emissions of the companies there are two possible mechanisms. One is the emissions trading, which is proving useful for reducing emissions, since not enough economic pressure exerted to that companies take drastic measures to emit less exhaust.

Moreover, some experts advocate the introduction of a direct tax on CO2 emissions, so that the products have more CO2 emitted during the manufacturing process and transportation, will cost more expensive for the consumer who will begin to decide for greener products.

Right now, there are already four EU countries that have this tax: Sweden, Denmark, Finland and Slovenia. Sweden introduced as early as 1991, which has promoted the use of biofuels for heating.
