Solar energy can be used, not only to generate hot water, but also to support the heating system in winter, which results in significant fossil fuel savings.
Since 2006, installation of solar thermal energy is required in all new buildings within the Spanish territory and for buildings constructed before this law, known as Technical Building Code, went into effect, government grants can be obtained for the installation of solar thermal energy.
