Radiant floor heating is a system that has existed for 40 years and can be used for both, heating and cooling, which is a big advantage when it comes to controlling the temperature of the house. When a reversible system is installed, which is what it´s called when it´s used for year round climate control, we need to install a heat pump, also reversible, so that it can provide the cold or heat that will circulate through the piping system.
If, on the other hand, we just want heating, we may decide to use only a boiler. In this case, the installation works best if solar energy is used for heating. This type of instalaltion would operate as follows: the solar collectors are connected to a water tank through a hydraulic circuit. The collectors or solar panels are crossed by a pipeline that reaches into the water tank, taking the form of resistance. The water tank holds the water that will run through the radiant floor pipes. The tube from the solar panels yields its heat to the water of the heating circuit.
