Pellet boilers in San Francisco

Heating with a pellet boiler can save up to 1370 euros per year, which means that, in a maximum of four years, the original investment will have been recovered.

The price of diesel during the last quarter of 2008 reached 90 cents per liter plus tax. Rounding it up, lets say that we pay a euro per liter, then, a single-family home with an annual consumption of two thousand liters of diesel fuel, will have an annual expenditure of € 2,000 per year, in fuel.

From an energy perspective, a liter of diesel is equivalent to 2.1 kg of pellets, so our consumption of two thousand liters of diesel per year would be the equivalent to 4,200 kg of pellets. The price of pellets varies throughout the year, the highest being in the winter, when there is more demand. If we have a place to store it, we can buy the pellets at the beginning of summer, when it´s priced at around 15 cents per kilo, thus, the annual spending for our energy demand would be 630 euros. The difference between consuming one fuel or the other, would translate into 1,370 euros.
