Isolated PV installation for a home in Montreal
This is an autonomous photovoltaic system for a house in Sant Pere de Ribes. The installation has a capacity of 2.34 kWp for an average consumption of 5.82 kWh/day.
The installation consists of 12 photovoltaic plates of 130 Wp each, a solar regulator, 24 batteries of 930 A, a 7 kW inverter and a 6 kVA generator to charge the batteries during periods of bad weather. Image of the 24 batteries where the energy is stored.
The batteries used in these types of facilities are stationary batteries, which are more expensive than block (car-type) batteries, but, they last longer and require less maintenance.
We take this opportunity to clarify the terms related to the plates, about which, there is considerable ambiguity. When the terms plate or panel are used, we are referring to plates or panels that can be both, photovoltaic and thermal, but, when we use the term module, we always refer to photovoltaic energy and, if the term collector is utilized, there is no doubt that we are talking about solar thermal energy.
